Activities & Attractions
Caldedon itself, which is celebrating its 200th anniversary this year, offers 5 natural hot springs and a cold spring and for relaxing and pampering there is a spa with treatment rooms and products; a Casino and hotel in the grounds with 3 restaurants; botanical gardens; hiking trails; mountain biking trails; 4 X 4 adventure; horse riding; bird watching esp. Blue Cranes; barley; wheat; oats; and wine farms with wine tasting tours; sheep and cattle farming, and many historical museums and places to explore.

Caledon is the Capital of the Overberg, and boasts the largest SAB Barley Mill in the Southern Hemisphere for the manufacture of Beer. Rolling hills of the Swartberg surround this town and in March we have a beer and bread festival then in September is the flower festival. Working farms encourage tours; heritage monuments and buildings are aplenty in this amazing area of the Overberg. Only 120kms from Cape Town and 60kms from Somerset West; Gordons Bay and Strand, over the stunningly beautiful Sir Lowry's Pass, and travelling through Houwhoek pass on the way, is a sight to drink in with relish.

Centrally close to many interesting places such as Hermanus for whale watching in season; Kleinmond with its blue flag beach; Stony Point and the penguin colony; Genadendal and its amazing museum featuring the German missionary work and the Khoi history of Baviaanskloof, with original mill, printing press; blacksmith and other and historical buildings; Picturesque Greyton and its Saturday morning organic market not to be missed; Bot River and the quirky Shuntin Shed restaurant; not to forget the beautiful scenic Steenbras dam near Grabouw for picnics; fishing from the banks, or a leisurely day out.
