The little village of Swartruggens lies surrounded by a series of black hills. (When translated from Afrikaans, the name Swartruggens means 'black ridges')
The town was originally built on the Elands River during the late 1800's. Diamonds were discovered north of the town in 1932 and today small diamond diggings are still operational.
Essentially, Swartruggens is popular because of its access to game lodges and game viewing, close to the city Johannesburg without having to travel miles before experiencing game country.

Rooms are non-self catering but are equipped with a kettle, coffee/tea, mini fridge, TV, mosquito net, roof fan, heater, electrical blanket(in winter), iron and ironing board, OWN en-suite bathroom, linen, towels and bathroom amenities. Unfortunately no smoking is allowed inside the rooms, but each unit has its own separate veranda to sit and relax on and smoke.
Each room has direct access to the swimming pool and a view over the garden. Every room has 2 entrances (a front door and a back door.)
The guesthouse has a private entrance, which assures privacy.
Guinea-fowl and ducks are walking freely in the garden to add tranquility.

- Evenings can be spent around a crackling huge fire on arrangement
