KZN South Coast Accommodation

The KZN South Coast, sometimes referred to as the Hibiscus Coast, is a fabulous stretch of coastline which is popular with tourists and local holidaymakers. Perhaps even more famously this strecth of south coast is known for the millions of sardines which travel close to the shoreline during the winter months. This natural event is known as the Sardine Run and attracts visitors to the beaches to watch the dolphins, sharks and birds that feed on the enormous amount of sardines.

There are a number of coastal towns along the South Coast including Margate which is a well known beach holiday destination. A great way to see some of the coast line is to take the Banana Express vintage steam train which runs from Port Shepstone to Paddock - a distance of about 6 km. The line follows the coast before making its way up through the banana and sugarcane plantations.
