Western Cape Attractions

Travel just 10 minutes along the coast from Cape Town and you will come across the famous beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton. Camps Bay is a trendy village set against a backdrop of the fabulous Twelve Apostles mountain ranges. The beach here has to be one of the most beautiful in the world however the water is somewhat chilly. The palm-tree promenade opposite the beach is lined with excellent seafood restaurants and bars. You will also find a number of vendors selling cold drinks and ice-creams on the beach to save you even having to get up from your sunbathing. At weekends the beach can get very busy and is best avoided if the weather is windy as the sand will make you feel like you are having a severe exfoliation.

In the evening residents and holiday makers mix and enjoy sundowners at one of the many trendy sidewalk cafés and restaurants on the beachfront. Parking along the seaboard can be limited but if you turn up before 11am you should be ok.

If you have time then we recommend travelling on from Camps Bay to Hout Bay. The route is spectacular with the road sandwiched between the slopes of the Twelve Apostles and the spectacular ocean waves crashing.

There are also tour buses that that run on a loop between the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town and Camps Bay.
