Mossel Bay Accommodation

Mossel Bay is a lovely seaside village found midway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth along the famous Garden Route. We recommend you get to Mossel Bay by taking the 4 hour journey from Cape Town along the Garden Route which takes you along a wonderfully picturesque route. This coastal town is well equipped with a variety of accommodation options available.

This very popular destination attracts visitors from all over during the summer season and is a popular winter retreat. The climate here, often compared to Hawaii, is mild all year round and provides a host of activities for young and old. From here you can take a day trip to see the Great Karoo and Little Karoo, or maybe take the Klein Karoo day trip to Oudtshoorn to see the famous Ostrich Farms and perhaps take a ride on the back of one.

Of course being situated on the Indian Ocean means you have the opportunity of a lifetime to go diving in a steel cage and come face to face with the Great White Shark - the greatest predator ever. No diving qualifications are needed to do this. Of course this is not to everyone's taste so perhaps take to the seas on a boat for a cruise around Seal Island to view Southern Right Whales, Humpback Whales, Brydes Whales, Bottlenose Dolphins or Jackass penguins.

Also not far from Mossel Bay is the fabulous Tsitsikamma Canopy Tour which will take you on a 30 metre high suspended tour of the indigenous forest traversing platforms via cable.

The beaches here are beautiful with wonderful stretches such as Dias Beach, Santos Reef and Victoria Bay providing long walks and superb pink sunsets. The beaches here are some of the best swimming beaches along the Garden Route with gentle surf and long sunny afternoons. Mossel Bay was named by the Dutch navigator , Paulus van Caerden in 1601, after he found the mussels here complimented his crews diet. The mussels found here today are to be found gracing the plates of some of the finest restaurants in the world.

The town is known as the historical capital of the Garden Route with museums and historical buildings to see. Overall Mossel Bay is holiday destination offering great  value for money, excellent restaurants catering for all tastes and somewhere where you can just sit back and relax. There is an excellent choice of accommodation to suit all budgets.

Not far from Mossel Bay is Gouritz River Bridge where you can try bungee swinging which is like a bungee jump with a twist. You can als0 solo or tandem bungee jump from the bridge.
