Experience the thrill of abseiling down Table Moutain 1,000 metres above sea-level and enjoy the stunning views.Abseiling Table MountainCape Town AdventureThere are a number of companies that operate abseiling down Table Mountain on a near daily basis. Table Mountain is 1000 metres above sea-level and was the original world’s highest commercial abseil. As you rappel down you can enjoy the stunning views in a controlled descent to the bottom.Companies like Cape Adventure Zone provide a half day package to abseil down for R595 (subject to change) per person excluding the Cableway ticket. You don’t need to be experienced to take this abseil trip but you will need to be considered ‘walking fit’. You will need to bring your own food and snacks. Abseiling is a true adrenalin rush and Table Mountain doesn’t disappoint. You need to have solid nerves to take that initial step over and then to experience the ‘Long Drop’ which consists of a number of vertical cliffs which launches you into the awesome abyss below. Of course this is an extreme sport but abseiling down Table Mountain is successfully conquered by novices every day of the year under the expert guidance and tutorage of the operators who take safety very seriously. So as you lean backwards over the cliff edge having your photo taken you will be safe in the knowledge that you have been secured safely to your ropes and shown how to rappel down to the bottom. Things to bring with you:
Abseiling is ideally for those aged 18 to 65 however if you are 10 years or older and the parent signs an indemnity form then you will be permitted to take part. For those over 65 a declaration of health is required. There is also a nominal recommended weight restriction of up 115kg – if you weigh over this then you are advised to let the operator know beforehand.
