Ben Nevis Cherry Cellar & Guestfarm is situated at the foot of the Clocolan Mountain. The town "Clocolan" is named after the mountain. The word "Clocolan" is the European distortion of the Sotho word "Hlohowane" which refers to the climax in a war. Various Bushman paintings found in the mountain are evidence that the area was originally inhabited by bushmen.

Guests can choose to have Bed and Breakfast Accommodation or experience farm life by staying in a self-catering accommodation chalet. Dinner is served on request. We also have a camping site for those who prefer the outdoors.

Ben Nevis is the first and only registered cherry cellar in South Africa that produces unique products from pure fresh cherries. Visitors are welcome to taste a range of different cherry wines and liqueurs. The wine is a unique alcoholic cherry beverage, which contains 11% to 13% alcohol per volume and has been exclusively developed by the owners Pietie & Carina Botha, over a period of many years. People are fond of the cherry liqueur which contains 24% alcohol per volume.

Those who book in for a couple of nights of relaxation in a haven of peace and tranquillity, will be welcomed with true farm hospitality. There is a small campsite with space for five caravans or eight tents, with power and ablution facilities provided.

Alternatively, there is three-star accommodation consisting of a self-catering unit and three bed-and-breakfast rooms.

The self-catering unit is called KOSMOS and is open-plan with a room with a double-bed and divan, a kitchen with a stove and fridge and a bathroom with a shower and bath. There is DStv and linen and towels are provided. There are braai facilities outside.  

The en suite rooms which make up the B&B share a dining room with a fireplace, a sitting room with DStv, a snooker table and an honesty bar.

LAVENDER, which has an outside door,  has two single beds. The bathroom  and toilet are separate and there is a bath in the bathroom.

ASTER is a large family room with a double and a single bed and there is a shower in the bathroom.

At a peaceful, shady area you will find a teagarden, where refreshments are served. You can have a barbeque in the lapa and refresh yourself in the swimming pool filled with spring water. Meals for functions and lunches can be served for large groups - but this must be booked a week in advance.

In the connoisseur's venue is a large variety of bottled products from all the different fruits and vegetables of the farm, as well as dried fruit. Fresh fruit is available in season. People can visit the packing-shed and see where the fruit is packed for local and export markets.

From the end of October until the end of November is cherry season. December till January is harvest time for plums, apricots and peaches. Horseback riding can be arranged on request. The walking trail is situated against the slopes and on the top of the Clocolan Mountain in the district Clocolan. This trail takes more or less four hours and is of medium difficulty. Many indigenous trees can be seen along the road and some of the names are indicated on the trees.

On your way "bushmen" art can be appreciated and on top of the mountain, spectacular views of the Malutis and surrounding areas can be enjoyed. The beautiful sandstone formations are distinctive features of the area. Clocolan mountain is also a habitat for different wild animals and birds.
