Bathurst Show 2017
Eastern Cape Events
The Bathurst Show takes place on the 31st March to 2nd April 2017 at Bathurst in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. The annual Bathurst Show is held over three days and attracts large crowds who come to see the huge variety of stalls selling food, arts and craft and exhibitors from the farming trade. The show is a celebration of everything agricultural with lots of things to see and do for all the family. This annual agricultural show is held over 3 days every year and National Exhibitors and those from the Eastern Cape and surrounds book their stands, either indoor or outdoor, to market their products. Exhibitors represent a complete cross-section of the South African business sector. An extensive Small Commercial and Craft Market section is demarcated for small business entrepreneurs encouraging local as well as national creative talent to display and sell their craft thereby enhancing & complementing employment in what is traditionally an economically depressed region.
Bathurst is located just off the main N2 route between East London and Port Elizabeth close to Port Alfred. Close by you will find plenty of Guest House Accommodation and Self Catering Accommodation where you can stay and enjoy a lovely weekend break.
We visited the Bathurst Show a couple of years ago and details of our visit can be found here on our Bathurst Show blog. The Bathurst Show is put together by the Bathurst Agricultural Society which is a non-profit making organisation supporting the agricultural industry and is a great place for fellow business workers to get together and exchange ideas and forge partnerships. Over the three days there are a series of competitions in a variety of fields such as Horses, Cattle, Small Stock, Art, Photography and Baking to name but just a few. Prizes and trophies are awarded to the winners in each section.
Equestrian events will be taking place including Show Jumping and an Equitation section, Dressage, Barrel Racing and a six-bar competition. Come and enjoy the Vintage Tractor Show at the Bathurst Agricultural Museum. The Bathurst Primary School will be showcasing how to survive on a vegetable patch the size of door frame as part of their school project.
Delicious food will be on offer from the likes of Bathurst Butchery. Sample some scrumptious burgers, healthy rolls, curry and rice and lots more. The large flea markets also feature numerous arts and crafts creations from local artists.
